Welcome to Red Hawk Sporthorses

"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and, once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed."

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Red Hawk Sporthorses is located in beautiful Mariposa, California. We are in the Central Sierra foothills, near Yosemite National Park. We are in the Central Sierra foothills, approximately forty miles East of Merced. We specialize in breeding horses for the Olympic disciplines; eventing, jumping, and dressage, as well as hunter/jumper prospects. We have a selection of Hanoverian, Oldenburg, Irish Draught, Shire and Friesian Sporthorses. Our commitment is to breed the finest sporthorses for the various disciplines.

Our mission is to bring more affordable American-born Warmbloods/Sporthorses to the market for the professional and amateur rider without sacrificing quality. We are committed to a high quality prospect for a wide variety of disciplines and levels, including combined driving, dressage, jumping, eventing, and Pony Club prospects.

The goal in our breeding program is to produce a sound, athletic, and good natured horse. We pride ourselves on the quality, conformation and character of our horses. Our foals are imprinted from birth, and are handled on a daily basis. Grooming and handling lessons nurture the young horses so they are confident when they start to train under saddle. All of our foals are eligible to be registered under their breed registry.

Our mares are chosen for their pedigree and disposition. Our Jockey Club Thoroughbred mares are descendants of some of the greatest names in racing history. Our mares have also been inspected and approved for breeding in the Main Book of the American Hanoverian Society, the Oldenburg/ISR NA, and the First Premium Mare Book of the American Warmblood Registry.

The stallions are chosen to compliment the mares. For the 2008 and 2009 foals, we have chosen young stallions that are Class I "Best of the Best", Elite Stallions, that boast championship bloodlines and have proven themselves in Regional and National competitions. Please take a look at our Reference Stallions on the Foals page and read about each stallion's accomplishments on their individual web pages.
